Itinerary

Upon arrival, you will need to present a valid Canadian or American passport and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. You also need to show your Tourist Visa. Tourist Visa to be obtained online prior to departure at: www.immigration.go.tz.

After clearing immigration formalities, meet our representative and transfer you to Springlands Hotel located in the Town of Moshi close to the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro.

As you make your way to the Park Gate drive through coffee and banana plantations in the small Village of Marangu, once you reach the gate (1,830m) the Guide will assist you with all the entrance formalities.

Continue your hike through the rainforest till you reach the clearing at Mandara Huts (2,700m). A collection of frame wooden mountain Huts, most huts sleep eight people, sixty is the maximum capacity in all Huts. The toilets are behind the main cabin. Relax and enjoy the beautiful views there is a chance to see monkeys and rich birdlife, there is also a visit the Volcanic remains of Maundi Crater.

You continue your trek through forest and grassy moorland, if the weather is clear you get good views of Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks.

Reach the Huts complex of Horombo similar to the Mandara Huts but with larger capacity of hundred and twenty people. Horombo is a great spot for spectacular sunsets and sunrises.

Today you ascend towards the area known as the "Sadle" a vast place that looks like a lunar desert located between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. You see the terrain changing and find yourself climbing a slope full of lose stones feeling a sense of high altitude wilderness. By early afternoon arrive at Kibo Hut, situated in the lower part of the crater wall at the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Kibo Hut can accommodate up to sixty people, the dormitory rooms are off the main corridor and have bunk beds.

Rest of the day is recommended to take plenty of rest, since you will continue your climb past midnight.

Start by 01:00 am, the climb is on a slow pace thru volcanic scree for about six hours, arriving at Gillman's Point by sunrise just on time to enjoy the breathtaking views, by reaching here you would get an official certificate even if you were not to continue. After some rest and if you are feeling strong you can continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, trek for approximately three hours passing the spectacular glaciers seen all through the summit area. Once you reach, enjoy your accomplishment, take your picture by the famous signpost and be amazed by the views of the horizon.

Start your descend to Horombo Huts where you will overnight.

Continue your descent, this trek is pleasant and you can go more at leisure while enjoying the contrast of the summit against the greenness and lushness of the forest.

Walk to Mandara and then continue to the park gates.

Once you sign out at the gate, our representatives will transfer you to the Springlands Hotel.

Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight in Moshi.
